Everything is fresh in the pure air.

While the center of Utsunomiya has been rapidly urbanized, the natural environment preserved in the outskirts. The river Kinu flows in the east and Mt.Kogashi, the highest mountain in Utsunomiya rises in the northern west.
There are lots of places just right for spending holidays.
 
 Utsunomiya Forest Park
You can enjoy fishing, bird watching, cycling, camping and BBQ at the forest park .
Mt. Kogashi is the highest mountain in Utsunomiya rising near the park. You can enjoy hiking through the beginner’s and high-level courses. The top of the mountain commands grand view of mountains around there.

> From JR Utsunomiya, get on the Kanto Bus bound for Shinkanuma, get off at the access to Woods Park, walk 40 min.

 Tochigi Central Park
This park is composed of Japanese and European- style garden with 4 ponds.
The park is full of seasonal flowers and a place of rest and relaxation for the citizens of Utsunomiya. Tochigi Predectural Museum is established in the park.

> From JR Utsunomiya, get on the Kanto Bus bound for Turuta via Sakura Street at JR Utsunomiya Station, get off at Central Park.

 Forest Park For Children
The park is established for the use of children communing with nature.
There are a suspension bridge, tunnel and several playground equipments in the extensive park and they can enjoy to their heart’s content.

> From JR Utsunomiya, get on Kanto bus bound for Shionoya, Hunyu / 40 minutes ride takes you to Shinoi Gaku-doh, 10 minutes walk.

 Forest Park of Utsunomiya museum of art
This park lies at 26-hecter lush hilly areas around the Utsunomiya museum of art, in the outskirts of Utsunomiya.
You can commune with seasonal nature at the park.

> From JR Utsunomiya, get on the bus bound for Utsunomiya Museum of Art and get off there.

 The remains of ancient Utsunomiya
The remains is a large village of Jomon period(ca3,500BC) called Negoyadai and designated as the Important Cultural Asset.
There is a museum exhibits the restored houses of Jomon period and the way of burial, which are worth seeing.

> From JR Utsunomiya, get on the Kanto Bus bound for Nireki via Driving licence Center, 30 minutes bus ride will take you to the access to Hijiriyama.

 Hundred Caves at Nagaoka
You’ll be wondered at the sight of caves made of volcanic rocks. The 52 caves of the hillside are ancient tumuli. Each caves with the depth of about 1 meter has images of kannon carved on the inside wall.
It is said that the caves are the overnight works of the high priest, Kobo-Daishi.

 Sweating Amida of Ikko Temple
It is said that Sweating Amida let us know just before national disasters happen by sweating . It sweated a lot just before the Great Kanto Earthquake (of 1923)
It is designated as a National Important Cultural Asset.
In case of visiting, application needed.

 Old residence of Ujo Noguchi
The famous poet, Ujo Noguchi, known as the composer of children’s songs ‘’Red shoes’’, ‘’Shining Full Moon’’, lived the residence in his later years to flee from the fires of war. There is a monument to remember Ujo, saying ‘’Ujo rest here’’ ,elected at the yard of the residence.
In the yard, his monument stands.
