 Japanese Apricot Garden in Dokeiji
There is an old plum tree in the front garden of the Main hall. It is 100 years old and the height is 7 meters. Over 300 plum trees in the west side of the main hall bloom in March like mist covers the garden.

 Camellias in the Central Park
Vivid-color camellias blooms in the deep-green leaves during the season. Why don’t you go for a walk to see them. Spring is just around the corner!!

 Cherry blossom
 
Jikouji
The early-flowering cherry tree is know as the earliest blooming cherry tree in Utsunomiya as the name means. The age of the tree is more than 150 years old and the look at their best is breathtaking. It is lit up in the evenings. (Natural Monument designated by Utsunomiya City)

 Shiroyama west elementary school
The age of the tree is about 400 years old and it stands at the center of the play ground of the school. The mountain range of its background put some taste, too.

 Shounji
The age of the tree in Shouunji is about 300 years old. It was planted in the
commemoration of rebuilding ex-main hall. The beauty of the aged blooming tree has lasted for a long time.

 Hachimanyama Park
About 700 cherry trees planted in the 210,000 square-meters garden bloom at once in April. A large number of people enjoy the blossoms at the Cherry Festival.

> April 8th to 18th, light up time from 18:00 to 21:00
 
 Shinkawa channel
Dozens of cherry trees line Shinkawa channel for 600 meters and create amazing sight.
It is one of Utsunomiya’s most crowded, noisy and popular spots for cherry blossom parties.
During Shinkawa sakura festival, the trees are lit up in the evenings.

 Gamou Shrine
The precinct surrounded by the green of Hachimanyama Park is full of nature.
The color of cherry blossoms put the accent on the green in April.
 
 Faculty of Engineering The University of Utsunomiya
The straight road, which leads through the University of Utsunomiya is lined and covered by hundreds of cherry trees. There are also cherry trees planted on the premises of the university and crowded with people to see the blossoms.
 
 General Athletic Park
About 500 cherry trees are planted in the general athletic park. The whole park turns pink at cherry blossoms’ best. During Sakura Festival, many people visit to see them.

 Nikko highway
Nikko highway, which leads to Nikko from Utsunomiya for 16km is covered by about 1,500 cherry trees and it creates a breathtaking site.
Thanks to the early and late blooming trees, Nikko highway is a recommended hanami destination for those who miss the main season by a week or two.

 Azalea
 
 Tsukayama Tumulus
Tsukayama Tumulus is an ancient keyhole shaped tomb mound in Utsunomiya. The full length of the tomb is 98 meters. As many as 10 several kinds and 10,000 azaleas are in magnificent bloom all over the tomb in April. You must be lost in admiration of the azaleas.

 Hachimanyama Park
Hachimanyama Park also features azaleas besides cherry trees. 30 several kinds and 2,300 stocks azaleas are at their best in May. The photo contest of the azaleas with professional models is held in May every year.

 Yellow day lily in Tobiyama historical site
About 1,500 stocks day lilies grow in the park of Tobiyama historical site. The contrast of the lilies and restored remains is beautiful. Yellow day lily Festival is held in May.

 Peony of the Central Park
Peony is characterized by its large round flower. There is an entrance of the old Utsunomiya chamber of commerce restored from its former place in the park. The contrast of the bright color of peonies and the surface of the entrance made of ohya stone is exquisite.

 Hydrangea of the Central Park
The central park also features hydrangeas besides peonies and we can feel the seasonal changes closer. Light-colored hydrangeas are in bloom in the rainy season.

 Iris of the Aquatic plant garden
30 kinds and about 3000 irises are in bloom in June and make visitors become calm. Why don’t you enjoy the color created by nature to your heart content.

 Lavender of Romantic Village
14 kinds lavenders, including light purple-colored Lavandin Lavenders and vivid purple-colored Lavender Sages are raised in a 3,000 square-meter herb farm. Gentle fragrance makes visitors feel calm down and many of them smell flowers moving their noses close to.

 Hydrangea of Nikko highway
Nikko Road features hydrangea, besides cherry blossom and azalea. Hydrangeas turn the road vivid purple and make drivers feel calm down in the rainy season.

 Romantic Village
You can enjoy many plants of each season and tropical plants of rare kinds.
 
 Cosmos of the Tagawa River
More than 10,000 cosmoses in full blossom along the Tagawa River are a visual feast for passersby in from late September to early October.
The kind of the cosmos is called “sensation” and had been raised in an old rice field and transplanted by local people.
 
 Ginkgo
 
 The East Park of Utsunomiya Station
About 50 ginkgo trees are planted along the road, east side of the park, for 170 meters. People going for a walk enjoy seeing the vivid yellow-colored arch while looking up in autumn.
 
 Big Ginkgo tree
The big ginkgo was planted in 1620 at the place where used to be an outer moat of the third donjon of the Utsunomiya castle. The big ginkgo has grown 33 meters in height, though it went through at the hard time of Utsunomiya air raid for this 400 years. It is designated as a natural monument by Utsunomiya city and loved by people as a symbol of peace.
 
 Joganji
The big ginkgo tree, 30 meters in height, stands in the precincts of joganji and it is over 500 years old. It is also designated as a natural monument.
When its leaves begin to fall, the sight of the precincts is as if deep yellow carpet is spread and breathtaking.
 
 Akagawa-dam and Mt.Kogashi
Akagawa dam is a beautiful dam reflecting the shape of Mt. Kogashi in it. People can enjoy fishing, camping at the forest park nearby and seeing the change of the seasons.
Mt. Kogashi is the highest mountain in Utsunomiya. You can enjoy hiking through the beginner’s and high-level courses. The top of the mountain commands grand view of mountains around there.
