| Ohya stone is well known for a special product of Utsunomiya. There are many remarkable spots in Ohya. For example, 27 meters high statue of Heiwa-kannon, and stone-built street stand out. Moreover, huge basement space of old mine for Ohya stone is overwhelming. |

| What is Ohya stone? |
| Ohya stone has been made of the compressed greenish ash, which was made by volcano 20,000,000 years ago. This stone is gathered in the Ohya area, northwestern Utsunomiya. Uniqueness of the Ohya stone is its heart-warming color. Also, Ohya stone is easy to be processed because of lightweight. In addition to that, the stone has durability. Those are good reasons to be used for materials of various buildings. |

| Heiwa-kannon -Statue of Peace- |
| This statue was carved directly from natural rocky screen. Heiwa-kannon is 27 meters tall. The statue was made for consolation for casualty of the war, and to pray world peace. It spent 6 years from 1945, but all carved by hands. Visitors look down around Ohya area when you stand on the top of the statue. |

| Ohya Shiryoukan -Ohya Data Museum (Basement space)- |
| Visitors will know the history of Ohya stone mining. Trace of stone mining exists in the basement, where is 20,000 square meters wide. The deepest part of the basement is 60m and average temperature is 13 degrees centigrade. Atmosphere of this place is overwhelming and illusory. |

| Ohya-kannon & Ohya Temple |
| The Ohya Temple is located in the natural cave. It was built in 810 by bishop Kukai. The principal image is 4m tall Ohya-kannon, and it has been carved from rock. This image is the oldest in Japan as a rock carving Buddhist image. |

| Keikan-kouen -Scenery park- |
| You can look continuous rocky screen of Ohya stone in this park. It is located along side with river of Sugata. Sound of stream and blowing wind on the surface of the river will make you comfortable. Families have a relaxing time on the grass in holiday. |

| Tage-fudoson Temple |
| The Utsunomiya family controlled this area in the past, and they used to pray in this temple. This temple is believed to bring prosperity in business, and protection from fire. Also, you can eat popular food called Imogushi (taros on skewers) at teahouses. |
